Guiding Principles

  1. Community First – Contributions must benefit the Citizens of FNNND directly or indirectly.

  2. Broad Community Benefit – Preference will be given to initiatives with the broadest benefit to a larger number of Citizens, to support collective well-being and shared opportunities.

  3. Youth-Focused – Priority will be given to initiatives and activities that are created by, led by, or significantly benefit Youth, recognizing that empowering the next generation to take leadership strengthens the long-term well-being, identity, and self-reliance of the community.

  4. Indigenous Priority – Priority will be given to initiatives and activities first by FNNND Citizens and then by Citizens of other Yukon First Nations, ensuring that support strengthens our community while also fostering Nation-to-Nation respect and collaboration.

  5. Fairness and Transparency – The contribution process will be consistent and equitable.

NNDDC recognizes its role in supporting the well-being of its Citizens and community. While all requests will be considered, certain categories of requests will be prioritized, in conjunction with identified community priorities, NNDDC’s Strategic Plan, FNNND’s Strategic Plan, and the founding document Together Today for Our Children Tomorrow, as well as the Reconnection Vision

Requests for Contributions in the following areas will be prioritized in the following order:

  1. Culture – support that strengthens, protects, and celebrates FNNND culture, language, and traditions, including cultural events, traditional knowledge programs, and activities that preserve and promote heritage.

  2. Education – support for educational opportunities that build skills, knowledge, and capacity among Citizens, including training programs, literacy initiatives, and other learning initiatives or resources.

  3. Environment – Support for initiatives that sustain land, water, and natural resources that are central to the community’s identity and future prosperity, including environmental stewardship programs and land-based education initiatives.

  4. Health – Support for activities that promote physical, mental, emotional, and/or spiritual wellness for Citizens, including community health events, wellness programs, or projects that address specific health challenges in the community.

  5. Youth sports and other activities – support for opportunities for youth to learn, grow, and lead through sports, recreation, and leadership activities, including sports teams, youth leadership conferences or programs, or activities that encourage health and active lifestyles.

Areas of priority are subject to change depending on the needs of the FNNND community.

Requests outside of these prioritized categories will be considered if sufficient funding for the period is available, after prioritized requests have been assessed and approved (if applicable)
